Purim

We had a fun and productive weekend. I finally joined a gym (I know...in my 'spare' time) and went to my first class on Saturday while the kids were supervised in the playroom. In order to get reimbursed from my insurance company, I have to go three times a week, so the pressure's on. I forgot what it feels like to be sore after a good workout...can't wait to go again - I've really missed it and have wanted to do this for a long time. Mike is in full-on study mode, so I'm trying to take the kids out with me as much as I can nowadays. Can't wait for his Boards at the end of May...2 more months. I've added a countdown clock to his Boards on the right...I know...very fancy :)
Saturday night, Mike and I had our babysitter come by again for the second straight weekend and we went to see a movie (Juno). Date night is always fun and we both enjoyed the movie. And today, we went to the Purim Carnival at the Jewish Center. Yoni wore his Halloween costume again (though it was a stretch), but there was no getting Sylvie back into her old costume, so she went as baby. We all had a good time...there were lots of activities for the kids and they were rewarded with tickets which Yoni later redeemed for a couple of toys.
Lastly, as you view the latest pictures, you'll see some from the Auto/Boat show that we went to last weekend.
This video is of Yoni outsmarting the ring game at the Purim Carnival...he's so cute.

Sylvie's Awake Now!!!

Every morning, Sylvie takes a nap. It's a great time for me and Jonathan to just spend time together. We both love it, though he is never happier than we she wakes up. She starts to talk to herself in her bedroom so we hear her downstairs and immediately, Jonathan runs up the stairs and into her room to greet her. It's one of my favorite parts of our days. I finally got it on video. Her top four teeth are all coming in now, so soon there will be some footage of her new smile as well.

All in a day's work

After work today, I went to pick up Jonathan and Sylvie at the daycare. I greeted each one, and then put Sylvie down so that I could help Jonathan put on his boots. And what did the big girl do? She started crawling to a nearby toy!!! Today - at 9 months and 4 days old!!! And tonight when I gave them baths, Sylvie pulled herself up on the bath railing. What a big day for her! Today was all around a good day as temperatures soared to a balmy 50 degrees and I even took my coat off because I was feeling too hot! Yay!!! Hopefully winter is over and no more snow! Here is a video we took tonight of Sylvie crawling to a toy.

Sylvie is 9 Months old!

Among all the illnesses and sleepless nights, I haven't yet mentioned that Sylvie turned 9 months old two days ago. She is so sweet and loves to cuddle. She is feeling much better and only has a cough and runny nose to show for her past week. She scoots on her bottom now and crawls backwards, so she often gets stuck in unusual places. Today, she had a check-up with her pediatrician and she's a little pipsqueak. Her appetite is definitely not like Yoni's and she hardly ever finishes her bottles. She has now started drinking water from a sippy cup, so we are moving right along. For the record, she is 17 lbs/7.5 kg (20%) and 27 in/68.5 cm (30%) and is ALL MUSH!!!

Happy Birthday Mike!!!

Mike turned a whopping 32 today and the kids and I went to his office armed with balloons, candy, and a big sign to try to raise awareness of this monumental occassion. I think it worked, until Mike took everything down when we left :)
Here's a cute video of Yoni singing 'Happy Birthday' to Mike...he starts it off in Hebrew and finishes in English.

Down in the Dumps

I am so down in the dumps this week. After Amy and Idan left on Sunday, Yoni spiked a fever of 104. The next day in daycare, he started having difficulty breathing and Mike went to get him and brought him over to clinic (where of course, I was busy seeing patients in addition to freaking out about him). He again had a fever of 104, was given steroids, inhaler treatment and after an hour or so was sent home with Mike and Sylvie. He's had high fevers every day and today, Sylvie started coughing with a fever of 102. To top it off, Mike has a presentation to give tomorrow morning, and I'm seeing patients...argh. Sucks when the kids are sick. To make matters worse, a patient I saw on Monday (1.5yrs old) who stopped walking ended up having a huge brain tumor. I thank the gods I had her admitted. I am so heartbroken for her family...so, I guess I can live with Sylvie and Jonathan being sick. Life just sucks sometimes....but I'll try to keep this bantering to a minimum...have I mentioned that Mike saved a life?

Fun Weekend

I know I'm updating like crazy, but for some reason, we've been taking so many videos lately, that I have to post them!
We had a fun weekend with Idan, Amy, and Hudson who came a little early to celebrate Mike's upcoming 32nd birthday and brought with them a fantastic gift. It was actually quite warm on Saturday, so we drove to a big park with a nice slope and went sledding. Of course we took a million videos. Click here for all of the pics, and get ready for some screaming (mostly from me...)
This one is of Idan sledding (twice) and Mike and Yoni going down (of course Hudson is trying to chase everyone).

This one is of me and Yoni going down.

In this one you'll have to cover your ears (I'm not a roller-coaster fan) as Mike and I are sledding together.

And the last of the sledding videos with Yoni breaking the sound barrier all by himself.

And to represent what occurred for most of the weekend, from which I am still sore today, here are Mike and Idan boxing on Mike's new Wii.

Hungry Hungry Hippo

One of our new favorite games. Yoni sets it up and tells us when to play...
